It's not about the parties...
It's not about beaches or boats...
It's not about the tequila... ok, maybe it's a little bit
about the tequila...
It's not about two guys sitting at some tiki-bar with digital recording gear...
It's about a group of people around the world that were brought together by the
musings of an artist. When that many people are brought together in a common
theme, it's a very powerful thing. Sure, this has happened several times in
music history. The difference about this phenomenon is the very nature of
Parrotheads.
Someone was once quoted as saying "Parrotheads are more than just a bunch of
commode hugging drunks." This group of people use the power of their sheer
numbers to make a difference. According to PHiP,
this group of people contributed over $1.6 million and 365,068 volunteer hours
to charity in 2003 alone.
Beyond all of that, there is more to this spectacle. In a society where people
help people less and less, a common thread among these people who call
themselves Parrotheads is their compassion and friendship. It's about a
community. It's about getting away from the drudgery of the day-to-day routine
for a while. It's about meeting someone from 2000 miles away for the first time
who says "hey man, you need sunscreen? Here, take some of mine." or being
genuinely interested in a story told by someone from a different time zone that
you've never met.
This show is produced to capture that marvel of humanity that is so rare in
today's society. It's a live experience that you just don't get in a soundproof
box.
What is it all about? It's about Parrotheads.
Hope you enjoy it.
